It’s so true! Here are the basic details: All Hands Active, a local non profit has agreed to purchase Digital Ops and its assets. If Ops wanted to continue on as a business in its own right, some serious changes would have been needed. Many of these are still going to happen, but here’s the basic run down:
a) You will continue to be able to play games at Digital Ops / 525 E. Liberty St.
b) Starting February 1st, we will be operating primarily on weekday evenings and weekends. Hours will be posted soon!
c) All Hands Active & Digital Ops will be working together to provide a more productive resource to the community. This means loading up software like Blender 3D, Hammer, Gary’s Mod, Inkscape, Processing, etc., onto the machines.
d) Memberships that mean something. With reduced hours, we will be introducing memberships that come with an option of 24/7 access.
The whole sum of what will happen when AHA & Ops combine resources will be amazing. If you aren’t familiar with AHA yet, they’re a local organization that provides access to software, hardware, and some pretty awesome people. Think LASER cutters, 3D Printers, Sewing Machines, and you’ve got a pretty good idea. If you have been down to Ops in the past year, you’ve probably seen some of this already.
All Hands Active is having an Open House this Saturday from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. Come check us out at the normal spot to learn about the equipment, classes, and games offered up! Plus, Liquid Nitrogen Twinkies : )
Last, a huge thank you to Mark LeBay and Jon Rosenthal for starting Digital Ops, iQguys for helping keep us afloat and straightening things out, MYTHLOGIC for putting some kick ass rigs into our stations, and all the staff & volunteers, you ladies & gents know who you are.
Stay tuned, more details coming soon!
